Wear the mandarin in the most dapper way

Published by

Popularly referred to as bishop collar, the mandarin collar works its own wonders. Originally from China, the collar was worn by aristocratic office holders and distinguished them from the rest of the pack. The small uptight collar was usually fastened in the centre using a hook. As an unusual kind of collar, the mandarin collar is suited for unconventional, semi-formal outings. In recent times, a lot of designers have incorporated the collar into a number of different attires including female wears.

Mandarin collar shirts can be worn with a suit or jacket; the only difference being the fact that you can’t wear a neck or bow tie along with it. Another way of styling the mandarin collar is to wear it alongside suspenders. That way, you can vary your colour option while adding some style to your dressing.

To make your style more upbeat and semi-formal, a mandarin collar would work just fine with a trouser and loafers. However, you should be careful of colour variations and stick to colours that are complimentary. Your accessory of choice should be a lapel pin since you can’t wear a tie. The lapel pin will serve as a replacement and can add colour and spice to the dressing.

When wearing the African print with a mandarin collar, you must pay attention to ensure that you abide by the rules that govern native wearing. It is also advisable to go for plain colour materials rather than patterned ones as it gives the collar and the entire style a solid feel.

You must ensure that the clothing is free and that you can easily button the collar you want to be as comfortable as you can be while stepping out in style.

However, you choose to wear the mandarin collar, ensure you are wearing it in a dapper way.
