We will scuttle South East governor’s plan to patrol highways over insecurity ― IPOB

Published by

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned plans by the governors of the Southeastern states to set up highway security patrols to fight insecurity.

The group said the Ebubeagu security outfit introduced by the governors has not been of any help, rather it kills and maims citizens of localities where they operate.

In a press release by the spokesperson of the group, Mr Emma Powerful, the group said it will work to scuttle such plan if the governors continued with it.

Part of the release read: “We condemn the South East Governors’ plan to form another security outfit in the South East to patrol our highways. We declare such plans unacceptable because the murderous Ebubeagu they created have killed and destroyed many of our People’s lives and properties.

“We have Eastern Security Network (ESN) working day and night to secure our Region. These gallant men and women are paying ultimate price to keep our land safe from State-sponsored terrorists. If it is not for ESN, by now, state-sponsored Fulani militias would have overrun Biafra Land.

“Therefore, we don’t want another security outfit within our territory. Forming another security outfit means that the Governors have exhausted their powers with Ebubeagu and are again looking for another means of causing confusion in Biafraland.

“If these Governors and Polititcians insist on forming a rebranded Ebubeagu, that means that they are benefiting from insecurity in the Eastern Region like their counterpart, Hope Uzodima and they want Hope Uzodinma to cash into the ideas and cause more insecurity in the region.”

The group also lamented that it has noticed that despite the recent order of the Court of Appeal, Abuja division, which released the leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, the group wondered why the state governors have not added their voices to call for the release of their leader.

The group said: “It’s pathetic that these South East Governors can not publicly demand for the unconditional release of their brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after Appeal Court’s verdict to acquit and discharge him, instead they are hypocritically calling for a political solution without the political will to accomplish it.

“The only Governor who summoned courage and called openly for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and we expected other governors to do so without fear. No body will kill them because of saying the truth.

“We expected the Governors to demand for unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi KANU and not waste their energy and resources creating another security outfit.

“IPOB will never succumb to any pressure to accept any other security outfit to be used against ESN like killer Ebubeagu did.”
