We will retire you from politics, APC replies Senator Hunkuyi

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna state chapter has said Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi should get ready for a permanent political retirement anything after 2019.

Apparently reacting to a recent statement credited to the lawmaker where he boasted that will unseat governor, El-rufai in 2019, the party said the lawmaker undignified retirement will be concluded in 2019.

The party who was making it’s first public reaction over his defection in a statement signed by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, Salisu Wusono on Monday remarked that it was not in any way shaken over his defection as this was his usual characteristic of boasting to unseat an incumbent governor.

Hunkuyi boasted in 2003 that he will defeat the incumbent governor. He failed, only to hurry back to the PDP as soon as he was defeated to the surprise of the APP that had given him its governorship ticket.

Wusono disclosed that after his tenure as a local government chairman, Hunkuyi failed in every election until the APC gave him its ticket to contest the senatorial election in 2015.

“This should have prompted some humility and gratitude that the APC had made him electable. But Hunkuyi preferred to delude himself that he made the APC victorious.

Wusono observed that members of the public will remember how since 2017 Hunkuyi has boasted and promoted stories in the media that he controls the APC, and will not leave the party.

“Hunkuyi tried but failed to factionalise the APC along with his coterie of entitled elite who think that politics is solely about their own interest. Wusono noted that the APC responded to this condemnable display of indiscipline by applying the necessary constitutional measures.

“But he needs to understand that it is Almighty God and the citizenry, that made President Buhari and Governor El-Rufai victorious, and he rode on their back to win a Senate seat, something that had eluded him for over a decade.

“We wish to counsel Hunkuyi to reflect on why he fell out with former Governor Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, former Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo and a host of other politicians in the PDP.

“The people of Kaduna State have documented his mischievous and unprincipled politics. They are poised to retire him from politics, the statement concluded.
