Adamawa: CAN declares support for Gov Fintiri in development drive

The Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State, has assured the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of support to face the daunting challenges confronting the state.

The state CAN Chairman, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, who led a delegation of the Association’s officials in a courtesy call Monday morning, at the Government House conference hall said: “we shall be strongly behind you even when you step on some VIP toes as you strive to bring peace, development, and progress to our beloved Adamawa State.

“We wish to assure your Excellency that CAN is and will ever be ready to collaborate with you to ensure the success of your administration as you deliver the true dividend of democracy to our people through good governance,” Dami said

Dami in his speech extolled Governor Fintiri to have the intellectual ability to do the right thing not minding whose ox is gored.

“CAN is not unaware of the huge tasks and challenges ahead of you. However, we know that you have the intellectual capacity, the experience, the will and the courage to do the right thing no matter whose ox is gored. In as much as you are doing the right thing for the common good of the people of Adamawa State and the future of our state, you can count on our support.

“We encourage you not to hesitate to put right what has been done inappropriately for the good and future of our state. The good people of Adamawa State know that you have the good intention for the state and the people. Your quick intervention in the payment of two months outstanding salaries, the educational plans you have for the state and the ways and manner you and the security chiefs are committed to handling the different security challenges in the state are indeed indicators of the good governance packages you have for the people of Adamawa State. We urge you to keep it up.” He added

The courtesy call according to Steven is on behalf of all the Christians in Adamawa State and have come to congratulate the Governor and his Deputy on their historic victory during the March 2019 Gubernatorial elections.

“The massive votes you got at the polls from the people of Adamawa State and the overwhelming crowds that came for your inauguration indicated the love and the support the people of Adamawa State have for you. We say congratulations to you and we will continue to pray for your successful tenure.”

Dami However called the attention of the governor to have an administration that is sensitive to the issues of justice and fairness. And request that all citizens of Adamawa State should be treated equally irrespective of religious or tribal affiliation.

According to him, justice should be reflected in every aspect of his administration, because it is justice and fairness that can lead to peace, progress, and prosperity.

“Knowing who you are and your track records, the Christians of Adamawa State have no doubt that the state will experience the dividend of good governance under your able leadership.”

While thanking the CAN leaders for their support and prayers for the success of the 2019 general election. Gov Fintiri urged them to maintain the posture as his administration would be fair by carrying everyone along.
