Senator Raji-Rasaki who had an encounter with Tribune Tourism Magazine said that “In our determined resolution at ensuring the planting and laying of the fundamentals regulatory framework for the emergence of a robust tourism economy, we have found out that it is necessary for the separation of culture and tourism department and create as a separate Ministry for the sector”
She disclosed “This Senate and this committee is focussed and bent at emancipating the tourism sector and mobilize it from the shackles of perennial relegation into the background and underperformance”

She revealed that the committee has been able to initiate and sponsor landmark bills which are critical to germination and growth of the tourism sector. “We have during our deliberations and legislative duties and callings being able to pass two bills, the Nigeria Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) ACT CAP N137LFN, 2004 9 9Repeal and Enactment) and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR 2017 Act”
Senator Raji – Razak revealed that with these two Acts, the Senate has set the stage for the growth and development of the sector and “we hope the stakeholders will leverage on these legal platforms for the growth of the sector.”
Senator Raji–Rasaki said “We are seriously working round the clock by examining the legal necessities which will help at smoothening the edges of the moves and act to create a separate ministry for the Culture and Tourism sector. It is expedient, it is necessary, it is beneficial to the country, the sector, and the stakeholders.”
