We no longer witness instant miracles because there are too many false prophets —Adeoye

You must have had various experiences in the vineyard in your 35 years in the ministry. How has it been as a cleric?

I give glory to God for how far He has brought me and the fact that He made me one of His chosen vessels. The Bible says: ‘those that are called are the chosen ones’. The spirit of God told me some 30 years ago that I should celebrate the anniversary of my calling every year and I have been able to follow the directive. I received my calling in 1984, but I started the annual celebration of my calling from 1989. My calling is based on the word of God, I am called to propagate the gospel and to liberate the world through the word of God. I believe the ministry has grown in leaps and bounds. There are several testimonies and God is still working in tremendous ways through the ministry. Many people have received their healings and have been set free from captivity through the grace given to me like Elisha, Elijah and the great prophets of the past. Though it has not been a smooth journey, God has really proved Himself through manifestation of powers and wonders. This is why it is important one must return all glory and adoration to Him.

Could you recount how you received the call?

I learnt that I received my calling from my mother’s womb; I was informed that it was declared when I was christened that I would become a great prophet, but the people I lived with didn’t reveal the revelation to me. However, the revelation eventually came to pass in 1970 when I met the late Prophet Timothy Obadare. He told me that I had a calling. I prayed and fasted to seek the face of God and I eventually got the confirmation. He told me: “Son, if you can follow me without adding anything with my name, there is no case I won’t solve for you and I will never leave you.” I instantly dedicated my life to God and vowed never to worship other gods.

What has been the greatest challenge in the last 35 years?

There is no challenge that is bigger than God. The challenges are numerous, but God has been on our side. I thank God for the divine grace and strength to overcome all the challenges as they surface. The secret is that I never left God and He didn’t leave me.

What is your view about the competition among clerics, which has become rampant now in the Christendom?

Competition among clerics is a sign of end time. The Bible made us to understand that several strange things will be happening as a sign of end time. There shouldn’t be competition among Christians; we should always work together as one entity in the propagation of the gospel. Before someone can be a servant of God, one must first be a son of God and be saved. Let us continue to pray for the body of Christ. The body of Christ is one and it cannot be shared. Those that are competing and fighting over seniority are ignorant.

As a cleric, are you not worried that the church hardly witnesses instant miracles and wonders like the old days?

Firstly, it is as a result of the fact that we now have many false prophets in the country. Secondly, real faith is fading away among Christians. God requires our obedience and faith first before any other thing. We cannot see God physically except through His wonders and manifestation of power through His servant and every cleric God gives such gift must always return all the glory back to Him. The day a cleric starts seeing himself as God, his downfall is looming. There are still instant miracles today. A lot of people are still witnessing several miracles through healings, signs and wonders. The greatest miracle is the genuine salvation of our souls; all others are secondary.

Are there plans to retire soon?

I can never be tired serving God. The way God called us varies and it depends on the agreement we have with Him. For me, there is no retirement, I will serve God till eternity.

How would you assess the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari since the commencement of his second tenure?

As a servant of God, I don’t judge people. Our leaders need to move closer to God. A leader that doesn’t know God will lead his followers astray. This is what is happening to us in this country.

Nigeria has forsaken God and this is the main reason we are suffering in the hands of our leaders. If Nigerians can seek the face of God, just as they look for money, this country will change for the better. To be sincere with you, this country is in danger and God is the only solution.

What are you expectations as regards the celebration of the 35 years of your ministry?

I trust God for a laudable and a remarkable celebration. We have held several programmes since the beginning of the week and we are optimistic for a spirit-filled thanksgiving service today, as we will host notable clerics, gospel ministers and dignitaries from all walks of life, including, Prophet M.O.  Olowere ( Baba automatic); Omo Oba Jesu Emmanuel Olowofolahan; Reverend  Peter Folorunso Owa;  Pastor S. A. Bankole and  gospel minister,  Evangelist Elijah Akintunde among others. The purpose is to thank God in a special way and seek for future guidance.
