We join APC to help PMB, GMA get re-election in 2019, Yuguda declares

Isa Yuguda (L) and Mohammed Abubakar (R)

IMMEDIATE former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, who recently announced his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has explained that he and his teeming supporters decided to join the party in order to continue contributing to nation-building, especially Bauchi State as well as to boost the re-election chances of President Muhammadu Buhari and incumbent Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in the 2019: general elections.

According to a press release signed and issued by the Press Secretary to Governor Mohammed Abubakar, Malam Abubakar Al-Sadique, Isa Yuguda made the statement after a meeting held by traditional leaders and political stakeholders from Bauchi State with the Governor in Abuja.

The release further contained that the former Governor explained that the situation in Nigeria and particularly in Bauchi State, calls for all well-meaning Nigerians to make their contributions in ensuring that the cause charted by the All Progressive Congress was pursued beyond 2019.

Isa Yuguda according to the release was quoted saying that, “As an economist, I know that given the economic crunch in our country from 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar have performed commendably well.”

Isa Yuguda according to the release further said that he and his supporters have formally joined the APC and were ready to “offer the best expected of us to take the party at all levels, from the presidency to the local government level to victory.”

While welcoming the former Governor into the ruling party, Governor Mohammed Abubakar commended him for “this bold decision to join the progressives’ family,” noting that as former Governor of Bauchi state, the state needs the experience of Malam Isa to be among the best developed in the country.

Mohammed Abubakar then assured that his administration will carry the former Governor and his teeming supporters along particularly during campaigning for the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates seeking elective positions in the 2019 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at all levels.

It would be recalled that Isa Yuguda had a few weeks ago announced his defection from the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) under which he contested but lost the Bauchi South Senatorial seat during the recent by-election conducted to fill the vacuum created by the death of Late Senator Ali Wakili.

The former Governor who spoke through his supporters led by one of his former Commissioners, Salihu Ahmed Barau during a press conference at the NUJ Press Center in Bauchi declared that he joined the APC in order to continue to remain politically relevant in Bauchi State in particular and Nigeria in general.
