Recently dismissed police officers has revealed that they extorted money on the road because they were not paid.
In a viral video, the former police officers who were dismissed for demanding money from a Dutch biker in Oyo State have broken their silence, shedding light on the underlying issues that led to their actions.
The officers claimed that their resort to extortion was a desperate measure due to unpaid salaries and allowances by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
During an interview with @MRLILGAGA, the dismissed officers, identified as Special Constabulary police officers, disclosed that they had gone without payment for three years and three months, extending even to the point of their dismissal.
When asked how they survived without a regular income, one of them shared that they divided the money they collected at roadblocks among themselves to take care of their families.
Regarding their dismissal, they argued that their actions with the Dutch biker were just a joke and shouldn’t have resulted in losing their jobs.
