We don’t want foreign herdsmen in Benue

Published by

The solution that the All Progressive Congress-led Federal Government’s National Economic Council (NEC) came up with regarding the way that killer Fulani tribesmen can be reined in at Benue State and elsewhere was one based on “registering foreign herders at Nigeria’s borders.” What a dangerous farce.  So now the Gov. Dave Umahi NEC committee is recommending accommodation, a very dangerous accommodation indeed.

Worse is the imprimatur of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on this line of thinking. What is actually going on here? Why would the Christian Umahi and the Christian Osinbajo support the widespread belief over here in the North that Muhammadu Buhari is some sort of Fulani Mahdi who has come to corral all the scattered Fulani tribes across the wide stretches of West-central Africa onto one huge Kautal Hore umbrella in the Benue Valley?

To diehard Islamists, now is the time for the “tenant” kuffar Tiv tribesmen of the Benue Valley to pack out and give way to the Fulbe Ummah. Apparently, Muhammadu Buhari sees himself more as a Fulani Mahdi than a “Western” Executive President. This would go a long way to explain the disdain that our president has for the judiciary and legislature and he sure does not care about improving the lot of a Nigeria that is trending towards improving the lots of “Western-influenced” progressives who aspire to build a middle class that synchs with the aspirations of those of the kudu (or Southern Nigeria) region.
