We can only overcome insecurity challenges through collective efforts — Gov Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has disclosed that the scourge of banditry and other crimes will soon be over, saying the challenges will be over through collective efforts.

The Governor disclosed this on Wednesday in Gusau during the formal inauguration of 2,646 Zamfara state community protection guards batch one, held at the trade fair complex in the state.

Governor Lawal assured that the issue of banditry would soon be over as all the northwest Governors have now come together to fight the common goal that bedevilling their areas.

Also speaking at the occasion, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina state said the northwest zone would collectively come together to end banditry in the zone.

Governor Rada stressed that the states of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kaduna, katsina, Kano and Jigawa would form a formidable force to effectively tackle insecurity.

He maintained that the affected seven states would come out with one security outfit that would work side by side with the conventional security personnel to make sure that the bandits were wiped out of the zone.

He said, “As the issue of banditry is increasing by the day, we the Governors of the affected states in the northwest zone will come together to fight the marauding bandits.

“It is high time we come together to find a lasting solution to banditry which has claimed several lives, while properties worth billions of Naira were destroyed.

“I am happy we are here in Zamfara state today for the launching of the state’s community protection guards and I am quite sure the remaining states will soon join.”

Five Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa were in Gusau town to witness the commissioning of Zamfara state community protection guards.

Others were Former Governors of Zamfara state Ahmed Sani Yarima and Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, and former state deputy Governors Malam Ibrahim Wakala and Muktar Anka in the state.
