We are making progress in economy recovery ―Buhari

PRESIDENT Muhammad Buhari has insisted that the country is out of recession, saying we are making steady progress in our economic recovery.

He made this known during the launch of the N50bn Sunti Golden sugar Estates in Mokwa local government area of Niger state.

Buhari remarked that ‘we will continue to look inwards especially in the non-oil sector so that our economic potential would be explored by various states governments.

‘I am happy today, that what is happening is a clear demonstration that our call for economic diversification is getting support.

The president lauded the Flour Mill for investing in the country since in the 1960’s, saying, I was told this investment is worth N50bn and is the largest agricultural investment in the country.

According to him, the investment will definitely change the lives of people living around the company, pointing out, that his government would continue to support private businesses.

Earlier, the chairman of the Flour Mill of Nigeria, Mr John Coumataros remarked that this was more than a dream that came to fruition.

He said the investment started in 2010 and there was no better time to complete it than now, saying, until sugar was a living example of that dream.

Speaking at the occasion, the state governor, Alh Sani Bello said so far 3,000 hectares of land have been cultivated waiting for harvest

He disclosed that about 5,000 workers including the youths have been engaged at the peak of production the company will engage not less than 50,000 workers.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion included the governor of Kebbi State, Alh Abubakar Bagudu, Aliko Dangote, Ahmed Joda, CBN governor, Emiefele, Etsu Nupe, Alh Yahaya Abubakar, Ambassador of Greece, as well as Ambassador of the United States among others .
