One of Africa’s leading financial technology companies, Cellulant, has described its decision to re-launch its payment, agent and mobile banking app, Tingg, to an all-in-one, multi-functional consumer super app, as part of its determination at revolutionizing electronic payment system in Africa.
Announcing the re-launch of the app, Chief Marketing Officer, Cellulant Nigeria, Mr. Lanre Adelanwa, stated that the purpose of the new Tingg is to include a wide array of payment, commerce, and financial services in a single platform, so as to change the way customers interact with digital payment services in the continent.
He described the new app as the company’s solution to the fragmentation in the African digital payments space, particularly in cross-border payments; since it eliminates boundaries across channels and geographies.
“As a platform that supports payments, financial services and commerce at a local level, Tingg seeks to eliminate boundaries across channels and geographies. The all-in-one app will offer an integrated and efficient user experience adapted to local contexts, making it easier for customers and businesses to access digital financial services, send and accept payments conveniently,” he added.
According to him, the company which prides itself of having over 25,000 agents, spread across 24 states, in Nigeria, is designed with the simple promise of bringing financial services closer to the customer’s doorstep.
Speaking on the re-launched app, Co-founder, Cellulant, Mr. Bolaji Akinboro, stated that since Africa moves more money on mobile phones, than any other economy in the world, and with a growing interest in digital financial solutions, the new app provides the region, the unique opportunity to lead the way in developing robust financial platforms that can be customised to each country’s needs, with cutting-edge technologies.
