Murphy Anawana has a strong passion for media, entertainment, and African creativity. His expertise also spans strategic planning, entertainment, business strategy, and leadership. His journey has seen him test various ventures, from real estate investment to farming, before fully committing to online businesses as internet awareness in Africa surged.
Murphy’s idea of MBI and its subsidiary AFOREVO, an acronym for African Online Revolution, stemmed from a desire to change the global mindset about Africa. AFOREVO is a platform dedicated to showcasing African talent and content to a global audience. This platform was born out of Murphy’s deep belief that Africa was being shortchanged in global media representation. He wanted to change the narrative and showcase the richness, diversity, and vibrancy of African culture.
MBI’s expansive portfolio encompasses content distribution on YouTube and Facebook. Other companies under MBI’s belt include MBI Networks, TV production, Vybz 94.5FM Radio station and the operation of TV channels on satellites throughout sub-Saharan Africa, with a special focus on Francophone African countries. MBI also offers cutting-edge dubbing services that transform content into multiple languages to connect with audiences worldwide.
Murphy Ben International and its sister company AFOREVO have become a powerhouse in Africa. Murphy also attributes the company’s success to its hardworking employees whose dedication and commitment made it the best in Africa. He believes in the potential of people and embraces positivity and optimism, often quoting, “Money is a loud servant, while value is a silent master.”
Murphy is also passionate about giving back to society, particularly in the area of youth empowerment. With this in mind, Murphy is launching the Murphy Anawana Foundation to empower underprivileged children and create future business leaders in the tech industry. By partnering with a Canadian company B&O Consult, children will gain access to training in coding, AI, robotics, entrepreneurship and leadership, equipping them with valuable skills for the future. Additionally, the program offers internship opportunities with renowned global companies like Visa, Toys R Us, KPMG and Webdem, giving participants real-world experience and a solid foundation for their entrepreneurial journey.
Murphy has an unwavering belief in the potential of people, and the African creative industry and his work continues to promote African culture and stories.
