Wamakko flags off annual fumigation exercise in Sokoto

As part of his annual efforts towards eradicating the malaria pandemic in Sokoto metropolis, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, on Thursday flagged off the fumigation exercise in Sokoto North Senatorial District.

Wamakko, who was represented at the ceremony by the acting Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Basic Education, Alhaji Almustapha Abubakar Alkali, said this was part of his invaluable gesture to bolster the eradication of the recurring malaria pandemic in the state

The former Governor of Sokoto State described this year’s exercise as one big family, decrying that the defunct PDP-led government tried to truncate the programme for egocentric political purposes.

He expressed delight that the present APC-led administration has the same undying passion of providing quality healthcare services to the needy and the generality of the people of the State.

He however expressed confidence that the Ahmed Aliyu-led government will support the programme to ensure statewide coverage for the benefit of all.

While criticizing the former administration in the state, he recalled that the immediate past administration in the State abandoned its responsibility to cater for the dire needs of the citizens in many sectors of human endeavor.

Wamakko further called on the benefiting communities to support the programme to ensure its success.

He expressed hope that the fumigation exercise will help in no small measure to reduce the spread of mosquitoes in the areas.

Speaking in his remarks, Alhaji  Ahmed Baba Altine applauded the effort of Sen. Wamakko towards bringing succour to his constituents.

He charged the beneficiaries of the exercise to support the personnel who are undertaking the exercise for the overall success of the programme.

APC Chairman, Sokoto North Local Government, Alhaji Almustapha Tsoho Kwandawa, thanked Sen. Wamakko for sponsoring the fumigation exercise which he said will assist towards eradicating the menace of malaria in their domains.

He assured of their support for the exercise towards ensuring its success throughout the period.

The exercise is expected to cover three local governments of Sokoto North, Sokoto South and Wamakko Local Governments Areas.
