Wamakko donates transformer to Sokoto community

A former Governor of Sokoto state and current chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and  Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has donated a 300 KVA transformer to the Badon Barade Community, Wamakko Local Government of Sokoto State.

The 200 KVA transformer which was hitherto used there was grounded for a very long time and which has hitherto put the entire community into total darkness for a very long time without serious concern by or any of the concerned authorities, in spite of the myriad of pleas and complaints by the residents of the community.

It was contained in a press statement signed by the special assistant on media and publicity to the Senator, Bashir Rabe Mani, and made available to journalists in the state on Thursday.

The statement confirmed that the new transformer which had since been installed and energised was handed over to the community by the Director of Administration to Senator Wamakko, Alhaji Almustapha Abubakar Alkali, on behalf of the Senator, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District.

According to the Senator: “the gesture was my widow’s mite to the community, to alleviate their suffering which was caused by the prolonged dearth of electricity.”

He urged the residents to jealously guard the facility against vandals, while they should use the electricity wisely and judiciously.

Responding on behalf of the benefiting community, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the community, Alhaji Bello Jijji Bado, lauded Senator Wamakko for the invaluable gesture and pledged the judicious use of the transformer.

He further noted that, with the happy development, the socio-economic activities of the residents would henceforth be greatly bolstered.

Meanwhile, the elated residents of the community while celebrating the new development, thronged the location where the transformer was domiciled and installed, chanting assorted slogans like ‘Sai Alu’ to praised the former Sokoto state governor for the gesture.
