The 2018 edition, which will be the 3rd consecutive edition held in Lagos, promises to be a breath of fresh air with free live music and a much-needed platform for new talents in the industry at the newly opened Johnson Jakande Tinubu park, Alausa in collaboration with Lagos Parks and Recreation Agency (LASPARK), Ikeja.
The chairperson of the organising committee, Make Music Lagos and COO Showgear, Mrs Adeola Akinyemi, said: “Make music Lagos is an intervention and a platform for the voiceless people that don’t have the means to learn this thing or share their talents. Music is a gift of God to man that expresses and changes emotions; it is worth celebrating, hence Make Music Lagos. So, it is with great joy that we roll out the activities for Make Music Lagos 2018. The support this year from the government and public shows our collective commitment to music as an art and a great contributor to the development of our city, Lagos. We encourage every Lagosisans to be part of the celebrations. The beauty of this event is that everything is absolutely free.
“The next line-up for the month comes later from June 19 to 21 “Learn to Play”. The particular initiative is aimed at teaching interested participants how to play an instrument. The venues for this programme are; Lagos State Education District 1 Agege and on th 21st of June which is world music Day it would hold at Ikeja City Mall, Domino’s Pizza Yaba and Domino’s Pizza Lekki (Admiralty way).
“A total of 14 concerts at 14 venues in Lagos, so, nobody is left out of the festival. Make Music Lagos is Collaborating with several Venue Partners: Bogobiri, Freedom park, hard Rock Café, ICM, Muson Centre, UNILAG, Domino’s pizza/ cold stone locations in Festac, Oko Oba, Ogudu, Ikorodu, Surulere, AjoseAdeogun Victoria island, Ajah and Admiralty way lekki phase 1,” she added.
The high point of this cocktail of events is the Lagos shut down, which is the grand finale event slated to hold on June 24 at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island from 4pm to 10pm, while the A-list artiste billed to perform at the event include: Waje, Johnnydrille, Praiz, Vector, among others.
