The Jigawa state head of civil service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagateri, has pleaded with the civil servants in the state to exercise more patience. The state government will soon announce wage awards for civil servants.

The head of service disclosed in an exclusive interview with the Tribune Online in Dutse, the state capital, saying, “I’m appealing to our teaming civil servants to please exercise for patients as their palliative would soon be announced and subsequently paid.”.

Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagateri explained, “As I’m talking to you now, we are about to enter into a meeting with the leaders of the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in my office.”.

According to him, “The agenda of the meeting is to discuss and agree on the wage award by the state government to its workers.”.

He emphasises that “His Excellency Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, is ready and committed to the welfare of the civil servants, believing they are an engine room of the government.”.

Dagateri noted that “the NLC, TUC, and government held some meetings on the matter and other workers’ welfare. The paliative issue would soon be resolved and implemented.”

“As we all know, there is a good and cordial relationship between the Jigawa state government and civil servants.

The government is paying the workers all their salaries and other entitlements when they are due, the head of the service said.

Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagateri stated that “Governor Malam Umar Namadi is one of the most worker-friendly governors. JIgawa State can be first in terms of good working relations with workers in the country.”.

He further called on the workers in the state to be more patient and relaxed; the government is aware of their situation and present economic difficulties.

“The government considers them as critical stakeholders, and they would be happy to press the government after these meetings about to commence.”
