The Jigawa state government has approved an additional N10,000 for each civil servant for three months in the state.
The information commissioner of the state, Mr Sagir Musa, announced this, saying the workers should start enjoying the gesture by the governor’s Malam Umar Namadi’s-led administration from January this year.
Mr Sagir explained that the amount is a wage award to each of the personnel on the payroll of the state, local government, and local education authority for the state, where each would collect a token of N10,000 from January to March this year.
According to him, “This is after a deliberation on the memorandum presented by the State Head of Civil Service (HOS) for payment of salary awards to Jigawa State Civil Servants at the state executive council meeting, presided over by Governor Malam Umar Namadi.”.
The commissar added, “The State Executive Council has, after its deliberations, approved the sum of ten thousand naira (N10,000) to each civil servant in the state for three (3) months, effective January 2024, as a salary award.”
“The award for the Jigawa State Civil Servants (both State and Local Government workers) pending when a new national minimum wage is expected to have been signed into law and other palliative”
It could be recalled that the Federal Government and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to a N35,000 wage award to civil servants following the removal of fuel subsidies.
