Wabara joins APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has restated the resolve of his leadership to win south-east states in the forthcoming general elections.

Oyegun made the declaration on Friday while receiving into his APC fold, former chairman of the defunct  Hallmark Bank, Chief Marc Wabara, who recently dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Former Abia state governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu led Wabara and his supporters to the APC national secretariat.

Oyegun who also revealed that he received into the party former Ebonyi State governor, Chief Martins Elechi on  Thursday, thanked Dr Kalu, for consistently poaching chieftains of the erstwhile ruling party for the APC.

He said: “Let me thank Orji Uzor Kalu for keeping his promise, for being a good disciple, a believer in the future of Nigeria and a believer in the mission of APC which you too have eloquently enunciated.

“We thank you for the good job you are doing nationally and internationally and for your motivational principles. We are believing you will continue to do that which you are doing.

“I feel a sense of fulfillment today, l feel a sense of intense happiness. Yesterday l received former governor Martins Elechi of Ebonyi State and today you, (Wabara) are here.’’

In his remarks, the former Abia state governor expressed his delight over the spate of defection into the APC by former chieftains of the main opposition party.

“Now my spirit can now be at peace as far as the South East is concerned. The true leaders of South East know that it is important to be a major player in the Nigeria nation; and the true leaders of South East know that they are part of the building blocks of Nigeria.”

“When I joined the party, I promised to fish out men that can work for this party in Nigeria, not only in the South East.

“Today, we are here with a great Abian,  a Nigerian who is a big asset to this great party. We have assured you what we will do in that zone in 2019 and I am sure you have started seeing the handwork and hand writing on the wall. We are consulting widely in our zone and beyond.’’
