(VIDEO)Alaafin: Owoade arrives Nigeria to begin traditional rites

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade has arrived Nigeria from Canada to commence traditional rites ahead of his coronation scheduled for April 5, 2025 .

His arrival was disclosed in a viral video posted Affairs on Wednesday.

Dressed in a white blazers and matching white shoes with black pant and inner T-shirt, adorned with a black fez cap, the Alaafin arrived to the waiting hands of well-wishers and a group of women singers.

Tribune Online reports that the media aide to the monarch, Bode Durojaiye, had in a statement on Monday, said the new monarch was prepared to commence his traditional rituals as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

“As part of the processes, Alaafin Owoade would visit a number of houses to offer sacrifices, make appeasements, and even sleep over at some of the houses to carry out some night rites.

“After performing the traditional rites at some traditional homes in Oyo town, the new Alaafin will then enter Ipebi (seclusion) for the conclusion of the traditional rites within a secluded part of the Alaafin palace,” Durojaye said.

With his arrival into Nigeria, all is now set for the new monarch to proceed to Oyo Town where the traditional processes for his ascension to the throne of his forebears will commence.
