Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Senator Elisha Abbo appears unrepentant as he declined on Tuesday to talk on the matter before the adhoc committee set up by the Senate last week.
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, had last week set up an adhoc Committee with former Ebonyi state governor, Senator Sam Egwu to investigate Senator Abbo alleged assault of a nursing mother at a sex toy supermarket in Abuja.

But appearing before the Committee on Tuesday, the embattled senator who was granted bail in the sum of N5 million by a Kubwa magistrate court on Monday told the panel that he would not speak before them since the matter was pending before a court of law. He further said he would only talk to the panel in closed door session.
A member of the Committee and Senator representing Lagos Central, Oluremi Tinubu, however, warned Senator Abbo of the consequence of his action, saying the embattled senator risked suspension.
She said: ” Distinguished, we want to tell you. You are just joining us. We have also have a procedure . What we are doing , we are doing it as a legislature .
“Everybody deserves a fair hearing. What is going on with you, affects us as a body. That is why the Senate President constituted this committee. You can see the level and integrity of members of the committee .
“You don’t come here and dictate to us, the procedure we are supposed to follow. You are undermining us by trying to do that. You are not even listening to us. Even if we are going beyond what you expect, you can stop us. Do you want us to protect you, defend you or do you want to be on your own?
“Put off your mic and let me finished my point. Do you also realise that this committee can also suspend you?”
Apparently infuriated by her remarks, Senator Abbo retorted that he would not be threatened with sanction.
He said: “You cannot threaten me with suspension, it is not out of place for me to say I am not addressing press. I came because I received a text message from the Committee.
“I will talk to media, I should address the Committee in closed door.
The Senator Egwu Committee later acceded to his request to speak behind closed door.
Before the closed door session, Senator Abbo said he decided to apologize last week in order to protect the institution of the Senate, claiming that the incident happened before he became the Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Victim of the assault did not appear before the panel, as her counsel from (Solola and Akpana) told the Committee that the victim was in the hospital undergoing medical attention.
