VIDEO: 1.2 million students to benefit from student loan — NELFUND

The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that 1.2 million students from federal institutions will benefit from the pilot phase of the student loan scheme.

NELFUND’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Akintunde Sawyerr, shared this news in Abuja during a pre-application sensitization press conference on Monday, 20th May, 2024.

“We have 1.2 million students in Nigeria today in Federal Government-owned tertiary institutions,” Sawyerr stated at the event. “1.2 million is the maximum we can accommodate at the federal level.

There might be opportunities to increase capacity, but we will work with the available spaces for now.”

He also mentioned that measures have been taken to ensure a smooth start to the scheme, as the student loan scheme portal is set to go live on Friday, May 24, 2024.
