Victims of the January explosion incident in Bodija, Ibadan, have called on the Oyo State Government to come through with its planned support for them to rebuild their homes and regain their normal way of life.
Speaking on their behalf, the president of the Bodija Estate Residents Association (BERA), Pastor Muyiwa Bamgbose, acknowledged the urgency with which Governor Seyi Makinde attended to the matter when it occurred, saying that the governor sought to resolve all outstanding issues of monetary support for victims whose houses had been destroyed by the explosion that occurred at Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija, Ibadan, on January 16.
He said that the governor, through some of his aides, had indicated that the Federal Government had sent an undisclosed amount of money to support victims of the blast and that this amount would be supplemented by the state government.
However, according to Pastor Bamgbose, some significant time has passed, and the said support is yet to arrive. “We are praying that this support will not get sucked into another year or some other project.
“We have been patiently waiting all this while. We want the government to come through with its planned support for our members,” he said.
