‘He vents his anger on me with serious beatings all the time’

A woman, Mrs Ajimoh Abolore, has dragged her husband before an Isolo Customary Court in Lagos State, for  constantly beating and maltreating her.

The wife alleged that her husband abused her and  they had been living separately in the last five years after he forced her out of their matrimonial home.

She added that her husband, Oladele, beats her at will.

“Whenever his business is not going on, he comes home and starts picking quarrels with me.

“Nothing that I do satisfies him. He complains about my cooking and how I take care of the house. Sometime in July, he beat me almost to the point of death just because his mother complained that I didn’t kneel down properly when serving her food.

“He refused to listen to my own side of the story and he started beating me despite the fact that I was heavily pregnant,” she said.

The complainant also said that  her husband’s family were hostile to her.

“Once, his sister even casually mentioned that my three children don’t look like them in their family, insinuating that probably my husband is not the father of the children,” she said.

She asked for the dissolution of the marriage and also demanded for full custody of the children.

Her husband was, however, not in court to deny the allegations.

The matter has been adjourned till October 6 for further hearing.
