THE authorities of Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, has threatened to dismiss any student found engaging in drug abuse and other social vices.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Shehu Alhaji-Musa gave the warning while addressing the students for IJMB and Remedial Science Programmes of the institution in Kano on Monday.
He also told the students to exhibit good behaviour, stressing that the institution had no place for drunkards.
Alhaji-Musa said the decision to introduce the two new programmes was borne out of effort to give more students the opportunity to gain admission into the University.
“As IJMB students, you have a better opportunity of getting admission into the University than other students.
“We introduced the programmes to support you, the state and the country at large. So, you have to work hard to succeed,” he said.
According to him, the inauguration of the programme was another milestone for the University that would go a long way in allowing the institution to boost its contribution, especially the capacity building of the teeming youths.
He assured the students of automatic admission provided that they passed the IJMB examination to be conducted after the one year programme.
The vice-chancellor disclosed that IJMB programme was being organised and coordinated by the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
NAN reports that 800 students were admitted for IJMB programme and 200 for programme in remedial science.
