A CRJ 900 aircraft belonging to ValueJet airline encountered a slip after landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The aircraft was said to have suffered the incident having encountered algae on the taxi-way which made it unable to maintain the centre line.
According to the information gathered, whenever an aircraft experiences Algea it loses coordination and subsequently skids off after landing.
Confirming the incident in a statement just issued, the airline management said the aircraft slipped on taxi turn after landing safely and cleared off the runway at the Port Harcourt airport.
The airline however said the aircraft did not suffer any damage due to the incident.
The statement partly read: “The CRJ 900 Bombardier aircraft with registration 5N-BXR landed safely with passengers wondering what could have happened because the airplane landed safely
without difficulty.
“The minor incident happened at about 3.30pm at the Port-Harcourt International Airport. Captain Stanley Balami reported that the aircraft encountered a slip due to algea on the taxi-way which made it unable to maintain the centre line. ValueJet remains a safe airline and all the airline’s operations are normal without glitch.”
