Value chain, key to export driven economy ―Shippers Association chairman

MR Offon Udoffia, Chairman of Rivers/Bayelsa Shippers Association (RIBASA), says the value chain productive system is key to the export-driven economy for wealth and job creation.

Udoffia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday in Abuja, that only value chain production could reduce pressure on the naira and increase the country’s income.

He said that the earlier Nigerians began to add value to products, the better for the economy.

“We should be training our producers, traders and farmers the benefits of value chain production.

” It is only when a product is added value, that it can benefit many people,” Udoffia said.

The shipper urged Nigerians to embrace value chain production which he said was capable of turning around the economy.

Also speaking, Mr Paul Akande, the Head of Agribusiness Unit, Institute of Export Operations and Management (IEOM), said that value chain production was the panacea to the economic recession.

Akande said that self-sufficiency and job creation were attainable through value chain production.

According to him, people who know the benefits of value chain production enjoy proceeds from export.

He said that money was always generated through recycling and export of products to the advantage of the nation’s economy.
