Valentine’s Day: Ayiri Emami showers ‘thank you’ gifts on Ilaje fishermen, traders

In the spirit of valentine and for contributing to the eventual emergence of President Bola Tinubu in 2023 against all odds, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) business mogul, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has gifted items worth millions of naira to Ilaje traders and fishers in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Chief Emami, who said he remains the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom based on court ruling, made the donations at a colourful ceremony tagged:  “Renewed Hope Valentine’s Carnival” held at the 911 Beach & Resort, Escravos.

The Ilaje communities that benefitted from the largese included, Egbokuta, Costain, Agoila and Agogboro.

Items donated to them included four speedboat engines through raffle draw, 20 bags of 50kg rice, four hefty cows and cash gift of N200,000 to each community.

One person from each Ilaje community won a speedboat engine, while the four cows were shared to each community as well as the 20 bags of rice.

A separate donation of a speedboat engine was also made to the Baale of Egbokuta, Chief Durojaiye Ogunsemore by the APC leader.

Chief Emami, while addressing the colourful gathering, said he saw it as germane to thank folks from the communities for their unwavering support for President Tinubu, before and after the 2023 elections.

According to him, “I decided to show love to Ilajes in Warri Soutwest because they stood firmly when people were not ready to support President Tinubu.

“When I come to your place, the townhall used to be full, you gave me food. I know you complain about the high cost of fuel and food, but Asiwaju is working to fix them.

“I don’t want to wait till 2027 to thank you. You accepted us during the campaigns, so I have come to thank you with the little that i have.”

Speaking on the 2027 elections, the APC chieftain was unequivocal on President Tinubu being given another tenure to clear the programme table.

Declaring that there would be “no vacancy,” in Aso Rock at the State House, adding that “Tinubu must go back in 2027”.

“Let’s give Asiwaju a chance to rule. We gave Buhari a chance; it’s not that we were happy with the government.

“We fought our own brother to support Buhari. Now it’s the turn of Asiwaju, they are coming again that we should come and go fight. We say ‘no’. We are not going to fight.

“This man must complete his tenure. A lot of them that are ganging up are part and parcel of the last administration.

“For those ganging up, we will also enter our meeting here, Tinubu must complete his eight years. We say no to gang up,” Chief Emami declared.

Speaking on the uneasy calm over appointments at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Emami averred that there was no vacancy in Aso Rock, pointing out that the agency, under Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been delivering on the commission’s mandate.

“No vacancy in the NDDC, we can only fight who does not do well. In the past six years we have not seen an MD like this, it was as if the NDDC was not in existence,” the APC chief stated.

Other dignitaries at the event were Chief Michael Odeli, the Olorogun of Warri and Comrade Alex Eyengho, Chairman Governing Council, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta.

Others were APC chairmen of Warri North and Warri Southwest, Omatseye Akatakpo and Ebieto Collins, as well as members of the Ilaje National Youth Council, Ogidigben Seashore.

In their respective goodwill messages, Emami commended the benefitting communities for queuing behind Chief Emami to support President Tinubu,  just as they thanked the host (Emami) for the gesture and his leadership role in the party.

One of the beneficiaries of the speedboat engines, Demehin Sunmomi, as well as Baale Durojaiye  thanked Chief Emami for the gifts, noting that it would greatly boost their fishing profession.
