Uzemi Africa, Main One, First Bank, others empower women in technology

An Empowerment Initiative Group, Uzemi Africa, Main One and First Bank of Nigeria have empowered women in technology at the Uzemi Leadership Summit in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Speaking at the Summit yesterday, The Founder of Uzemi Africa, Olatomiwa Williams, described the summit as illuminating the path to change and empowerment in the tech sector.

Olatomiwa said the organisation envisioned a future where women take their place as a rising force in technology leadership, adding that it breaks barriers, nurtures innovation, and empowers women in tech.

Williams expressed commitment to fostering the leaders of tomorrow and bridging the gender gap in the tech industry.

“The inaugural Uzemi Leadership Summit 1.0 has illuminated the path to change and empowerment in the tech sector. 

“We envision a future where women take their place as a rising force in technology leadership. 

“This event is just the beginning of our journey to manifest that future. With every summit, we draw nearer to breaking barriers, nurturing innovation, and empowering women in tech. 

“Our commitment lies in fostering the leaders of tomorrow and bridging the gender gap in the tech industry.” She stated.

Speaking also, the Founder and CEO of MainOne, Funke Opeke, shared her journey and highlighted the importance of resilience and diligence. 

She encouraged the audience by emphasizing the rewards of hard work and consistency.

Also speaking on the theme “Women in Tech: A Rising Force.” The Chief Information Officer of First Bank, Rachel Adeshina, who described women in technology as resilient and confident, noted they are not merely growing but are an unstoppable force. 

According to her, There is illumination on the path for others to follow when the barriers that hold them back are shattered. 

“Resilient and confident women in the tech world are not merely growing but an unstoppable force. 

“When we shatter the barriers that hold us back, we illuminate the path for others to follow.”

The panel featured distinguished figures in tech leadership: Sandra Adebayo, social media/community Manager at Technext, Obi Asika, Otm Chairman and Ogo Maduewesi, CEO of Vitiligo Supportl and Awareness Foundation (VITSAF). These influential industry leaders shared invaluable insights and personal experiences on Leadership Development and Breaking Barriers, emphasising building confidence and strategies for success.
