UTME: All set for exams on Saturday ―JAMB

THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday said preparation for conduct of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Saturday is on course.

The one-week long examination is scheduled to commence nationwide on Saturday 13th May, to 20th May, 2017.

Head of Information, JAMB, Mr Fabian Benjamin, confirmed to Nigerian Tribune in Abuja that all logistics for smooth conduct of the examination have been put in place while the examination officials have been fully mobilised to their various centres across the country.

The Board had revealed that a total of 1,736, 571 candidates registered to sit for the examination to be held simultaneously in 624 Computer Based Centres across the country.

Some of the Computer Based Test Centres (CBT) approved for the conuct of the examination in Abuja have also given their words on their effective preparation for hitch-examination.

Tribune Online observed in some of CBT centres on Thursday in Abuja that many of the candidates were still printing their examination e-slip, which indicated the date, location, and time for the examination.

JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, had told journalists on Tuesday that this examination would not be business as usual.

He disclosed that the operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Police, Department of Security Service (DSS), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and special security forces have been engaged to monitor the examination in various centres across the country.

He warned candidates and officials involved in the conduct of the examination against involvement in any form of examination malpractices, saying anyone tempted to compromise the well organise arrangement would be made to face the full weight of the law.

According to him, each examination centre would be manned by a supervisor, a technical officer, a verification officer, three proctors as well as security agents. He also disclosed that each state would be superintended over by a head of a tertiary institution-Vice Chancellor, Rector or Provost.

He said candidates were expected to have commenced printing of their e-registration slips from Sunday 7th May, 2017, noting that the slips have been sent to candidates’ E-mail addresses.

He said candidates could also print their slips at accredited CBT Centres with their registration numbers for not more than N100 only or visit the JAMB website and key in their registration number to print.

He warned that there would be no rescheduling of examination and any candidate who fails to turn up for his or her examination on the date assigned has missed the examination.
