Utilising Queen Esther’s story to build godly homes

THE book, Courageous Queen Esther (Hadassah), published by Beatrice Adeyinka, in honour of Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, dwells on the life of the biblical Queen Esther, and how today’s women can tap into her experiences to better their lives.

The book opens with the story of Esther’s early life, especially the fact that she was born a slave. However, despite her lowly birth, the author explains some of her attributes, which include having the fear of God, having wisdom, being cheerful, obedience, highly-favoured, bold, modest, always grateful, committed, contented, among others. The author explains that it was her attributes that changed her situation from a slave girl to being a queen.

In the second chapter, the book dwells on how she married King Ahasuerus, and the third chapter reveals how her God-given wisdom helped her to identify her enemy (Haman), who would have destroyed her marriage.

Here, the author uses this part to explain the several challenges women will face in marriage, and why it is important they pray for God’s wisdom in order to overcome such challenges.

The book further enjoins spinsters on the need to be on the same level with their partners before marriage, so that they will have less challenges after marriage. That is probably why the chapter of the fourth chapter is: Can two walk together except they agree?

The author further explains that marriage is a life time partnership and those who don’t know its implications rush into it.

She further says that there will be differences between the partners, like they are from different backgrounds, different ethnicity, have different educational qualifications, among others, but if they build the foundation of their relationship on God, then things will work out fine in the union.

Further chapters in the book focus on how to build a happy home, and going back to Queen Esther, the author says she lavished her husband with love, care and with generosity and leniency, and that was why her husband loved her. She also gives other areas women can work on if they are to build godly and happy homes.

The book is a must-read for all women who are desirous of building the foundation of their homes with Jesus Christ.

The author, Pastor (Mrs) Adeyinka, is an ordained minister of God in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). She is a prolific writer, who has written many Christian books. She is also a British-trained pharmacist.
