USAID partners BASEPA to fight malaria, Lassa fever in Bauchi

The United States Agency For International Development (USAID) Breakthrough action is to partner with Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) in the fight against malaria and Lassa fever.

The State Team Lead USAID Breakthrough action Bauchi State, Usman Mohammed Inuwa, made the disclosure when he visited the Director-General of BASEPA, Dr Ibrahim Kabir, in his office on Monday.

Usman Mohammed said that his organisation consider the Agency as a critical stakeholder in the partnership as BASEPA is working directly with the general public which will help USAID towards achieving behavioural and attitudinal changes.

The area of partnership between the two organisations according to him is in the areas of sensitisation to fight Malaria and Lassa fever and other health challenges.

While responding, Director General of the Agency, Dr Ibrahim Kabir, assured the organisation that his Agency will work for hand in hand with USAID Breakthrough Action towards achieving its target and objectives.

He also used the occasion to highlight some of his Agency’s achievements which he said were achieved through rigorous sensitization that help in changing the attitude of the general public.

The USAID Breakthrough action of attitudinal and behavioural change is in a pilot stage in Bauchi and Toro LGAs which is being expanded to all the 20 local government areas of the state towards improving the health care system in the state as the program will last for four years.
