US: What you didn’t know about Golden Globe nominations

Published by

The nominations for the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards have officially been announced. On December 9, Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut revealed the nominees for both film and television.

Emilia Pérez led the movie nominations with 10 nods, including recognition for its stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Selena Gomez.

In the television categories, The Bear topped the list with five nominations, followed closely by Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building, both earning four.

Comedian Nikki Glaser has been tapped to host this year’s ceremony, which will air live on Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Glaser expressed her excitement and the challenges that come with hosting such a high-profile event: “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy,” she said. “It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so).”

This year’s ceremony will also honour Viola Davis with the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ted Danson with the Carol Burnett Award, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

The Golden Globes are shaping up to be a night of memorable moments, with stars, humour, and unpredictable surprises expected throughout the evening.
