US warns citizens to avoid hotels over threat of attack

Published by

The United States has issued a fresh warning to its citizens in Nigeria to avoid major hotels in the country, noting that there are elevated threats to major hotels in the larger cities of the country.

The warning was contained in an emergency information for US citizens dated November 3, 2023.

It stated: “The U.S. Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.

“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat.”

“The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens to consider this information when lodging or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”

The statement, however, advised citizens to exercise vigilance at major hotels, be alert to their surroundings, and keep a low profile.
