US: Mass shooting in Baltimore county leaves one dead, nine Injured

A shooting incident in Baltimore County, Maryland, on Tuesday, claimed the life of one individual and left nine others injured, with a vehicle engulfed in flames, according to police reports.

Baltimore County Police Department officers were dispatched to Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson around 7:15 p.m. after receiving multiple calls about the gunfire.

“Upon arrival, officers encountered a vehicle overturned and ablaze. Numerous victims were located, and the fire department was notified to assist,” stated Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough during a press briefing.

In an update posted on X, Baltimore County police classified the incident as a mass shooting.

Chief McCullough confirmed one fatality at the scene, while nine others were transported to nearby hospitals with various injuries. Authorities believe the attack was deliberate.

“This seems to be intentional,” McCullough said. “We believe the individuals involved were acquainted, and there is no continuing threat to public safety.”

The Baltimore office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the location, the agency confirmed to news houses.

As the investigation progresses, detectives are working to determine the events leading up to the crash and shooting. Gunfire evidence was identified on the exterior of a nearby building, and shell casings were retrieved from the scene.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski described the incident as a startling tragedy. “This type of violence is uncommon in Baltimore County,” he remarked. “We will allocate all necessary resources to support our police and fire departments as they work to hold those responsible accountable.”

Residents are being advised to avoid the area as investigations continue.
