On US govt and Nigerians

Published by

In many ways, the United States remains the best nation in the whole world. In terms of diplomatic relations, Nigeria needs the USA and the USA also needs Nigeria.

Some of our governors have American Green Card and do not have any problems entering the country, but some Nigerians do not enjoy such a privilege. It was recently reported in the dailies that some Nigerians with valid visas were denied entry into the United States.

Although the Federal Government has not released any official statement on this, it is safe to say that there are so many responsible Nigerians with good reputation, as even the US government will admit. Such people should not be treated shabbily by the US government.

Nigerians deserve an explanation from the US government on why Nigerians with valid visas should be denied entry into the country.

Our leaders have bastardised our economy and many Nigerians are wallowing in poverty, which is why many Nigerians, particularly the youths, want to get out of the country. Americans have been very helpful and kind to many Nigerians; thousands of Nigerians have taken advantage of the visa lottery programme. I wish President Donald Trump a successful tenure. Nigeria needs US support, but we do not expect President Trump to label Nigerians as criminals. I appeal to President Trump to reconsider his decision.
