The newly-elected chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Friday Warri, has urged the staff of the council to avoid absenteeism, truancy and lateness to work, which are against civil service regulations.
The chairman made the call from his office in Oleh, the headquarters of the council, after assuming duties following his inauguration in Asaba by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Warri also promised to utilise the council’s funds judiciously for the overall development of the entire local government area.
He expressed his delight at being addressed as the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area and credited his success to divine intervention.
The chairman lauded the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Mary Ofogbor for her excellent management of the local government over the past three months.
Earlier, Ofogbor shared her achievements and expressed confidence in the chairman’s ability to continue the progress, just as she presented her handover notes to the elected chairman.
The chairman, alongside the vice chairman, Theresa Ikrike and the councillors were treated to a reception organised by the management of Isoko South Local Government Area.
Furthermore, the 20 councillors representing the various wards in the local government were inaugurated by the chairman at the James Ekpre Otobo Hall in Oleh.
Additionally, the council boss inaugurated the Eighth Assembly of Isoko South Local Government Legislative Arm on July 17.
In the legislative Arm, Honourable Olokor Abizire was elected as the Leader, with Honourable Orere Otovo as Deputy Leader. Honourable Eloho Eza was elected as Majority Leader, with Honourable Austin Ogbalor as Deputy Majority Leader. Honourable Ekee Jerome and Honourable Osikpra Oghenero were elected as Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
The councillors took the relevant oath of office and allegiance, administered by the Clerk of the legislative Arm, Mrs. Ethel Eghaire.
The house immediately commenced its first sitting after the election of the leadership and other principal officers of the legislative house.
The swearing-in of the councillors and the inauguration of the house were witnessed by the Isoko Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Mr. Odio Obaro, party faithful, as well as people from various walks of life.
