The Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Olugbenga Dairo has charged the newly elected executives of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), to prioritise decency, dedication, transparency, and unity in leadership.
Speaking at the 2025 election and inauguration ceremony of the new executive members, at the RTEAN Secretariat, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Dairo, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Olufodun Moibi, emphasised that there are responsibilities that come with a leadership position, hence all hands must be on deck to move the association forward.

“Leadership is a call to service, and I commend you all for stepping forward to serve the members of this esteemed association. As you assume office, I urge you to lead with decency, dedication, transparency, and unity,” Dairo stated.
The commissioner further encouraged the union to support the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun by implementing its Strategic Transportation Master Plan, noting that, the government’s efforts was to enhance road transport safety, reliability, accessibility, and sustainability for residents, visitors and businesses in the State.
In his address, the National President of RTEAN, Dr Muhammad Musa, highlighted RTEAN’s origin as the Nigeria Motor Transport Union in 1933 before evolving into the Nigeria Motor Transport Owners Union and, eventually, RTEAN.
“RTEAN is the umbrella body for all commercial vehicle owners in Nigeria. Our objectives, as stated in the constitution, include organising and maintaining orderly vehicle loading, ensuring Passenger safety in motor parks and on the roads and fostering a peaceful transport environment,” he said.
He commended the union members for their cooperation in the electoral processes, stressing that unity remains crucial for progress and stability within the association.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the re-elected Ogun State RTEAN Chairman, Alhaji Titilayo Akibu, alongside 18 other Executive Members.
The event was graced by the Chairman, House Committee on Transportation, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wasiu Igbalaye, Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Abiodun Adebiyi and Chairman Parks and Garages Development Board, Alhaji Lukman Adunmo, as well as Security Chiefs and other dignitaries.
