UPDATE: Lagos crash, single flight jet, not helicopter

Published by

It has been confirmed that the air flight that crashed into Oba Akran road, Ikeja, Lagos State is a light single engine aeroplane and not an helicopter.

While LASEMA said four people were onboard the plane, sources within the Aviation sector said two people were actually on board the crashed jet.

It was a turbo ‘5NCCQ AJ4 -30’ registered aircraft, which was alleged to be on a test flight from the international wing of the Lagos international airport and operated by a tour company.

Nigerian Tribune reporter also gathered that as at the time of the incident, the plane had five hours fuel endurance onboard.

We reported earlier that the Lagos State, LASEMA, the Lágos state emergency agency activated its disaster response plan to the incident which occurred around 1600hrs and recovered all four passengers aboard the plane alive.

According to the permanent secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the helicopter containing 4 persons including the pilot crash landed in front of the United Bank of Africa branch on the road.

“All four casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to hospital for further care. The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident. All Emergency responders are on scene.”
