[UPDATE] #EdoDecides2024: Less than 70 PUs to go as INEC uploads 98% of results on IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded over 98 percent of the results from the Edo gubernatorial election on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

Tribune Online reports that voters across the 18 local government areas of Edo State turned out en masse on Saturday to elect a new governor to succeed Godwin Obaseki.

In the latest development on Sunday, Tribune Online’s check at the time of this report revealed that 98.58 percent of the results had been uploaded, leaving fewer than 70 polling units yet to be completed.

This figure represents the results from 4,455 polling units out of 4,519 across the state.

According to data from IReV, the results from all polling units in 4 out of the 18 local governments in the state have been fully uploaded.

The local governments are Owan West, Esan South East, Esan North East, and Igueben, while the uploading of results from the remaining 14 local governments was being finalised at the time of this report.

In anticipation of the final results, Tribune Online reports that there was drama at the INEC premises in Benin in the early hours of Sunday.

The drama unfolded when Governor Godwin Obaseki was escorted out of the premises by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Frank Mba at about 4:10 a.m. after entering undetected around 2:00 a.m.
