UPDATE: Buhari seeks Senate’s confirmation of Nami as FIRS Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the leadership of the national assembly seeking the confirmation of his nominee, Mohammed Mamman Nami, as executive chairman and member of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

President Buhari in a letter dated 9 December 2019 entitled “Appointment of Chairman and members of Federal Inland Revenue Service” urged the Senate to confirm Nami and 13 other Representatives of geo-political zones and MDA’s.”

Names of other members are James Ayuba, (North Central); Ado Danjuma (NorthWest); Adam Bab Mohammed (Northeast); Ikeme Osakwe (South East); Adewale Ogunyomade (Southwest) and While representatives of the ministries departments and agencies MDA nominees.

According to the letter, Ladidi Mohammed would represent the office of the Attorney General, Godwin Emiele Central Bank of Nigeria; Fatima Hayatu, Ministry of Finance; Maagabe S. Adaa (RMAFC) Umar Ajiya (NNPC) DCG T. M. Isa and Registrar General (CAC).

Buhari’s letter to the Senate followed the expiration of the tenure of Mr Babatunde Fowler who serves out his four-year tenure that ended on December 9, 2019.
