Collapsed building
The Oyo Police Command has confirmed that 10 people died and 8 others were injured when a building collapsed in Jegede, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
In a statement, Oyo Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso said, “On Thursday, October 31, 2024, around 2:00 AM, a storey building located in the Ojugbede Jegede area of Ogbere collapsed, resulting in the immediate loss of 10 lives. Eight others are currently battling various life-threatening injuries.”
“Adequate security has currently been emplaced in the Area to prevent hoodlums from taking over the incident scene and as well protect the lives and property of other residents within the Jurisdiction.”
He said investigation was ongoing to unravel circumstance that could have led to the incident, saying updates would be provided accordingly.
