THE United Patriots Assembly of Nigeria, UPAN, a social cultural and political group has given kudos to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu over what the group called, “their managerial acumen in the conduct of the February 25, 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The group also called on all the presidential candidates to commend Mahmood for reinforcing the commission’s corporate dignity as an unbiased umpire, rather than castigating it.

These were contained in a statement signed by Amb. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, and Hon. Usman Dauda, UPAN National Facilitator and Secretary General respectively.

According to the group, “Arising from a painstaking assessment of the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on 25th February 2023, it is pertinent, to salute Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the managerial acumen of the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Yakubu.

“From our lucid evaluation of the commission’s proactive measures before, during and after the elections, which were substantially free, fair and credible.

“It is most reasonable for the presidential candidates to commend the commission for reinforcing it’s corporate dignity as an unbiased umpire; as well as to congratulate the winner Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the globally established principle of sportsmanship.

“As a forum of Nigeria Patriots, we rise to specially congratulate the President-elect – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his exceedingly deserving victory at the polls

UPAN, however, endorsed Governors Sanwu-Olu of Lagos State, Abiodun Makinde of Oyo state and other progressive Governors who are seeking a second term over what the group described as “their consistent patriotic interventions”

“Flowing from their consistent patriotic interventions, we do here and now officially endorsed Governors Sanwu-Olu of Lagos State of the All Progressives Congress, and Governor Abiodun Makinde of the People’s Democratic Party, and other altruistically progressive Governors who are seeking a second term a deserving second term reelection come March 18, 2023”.
