The same can, however, be said about Kolawole Ilori and Olatunde Amusat’s book on a political icon in Oyo State, Temitope Olatoye, popularly known as ‘Sugar.’’
It is hard to listen to radio or watch the television these days without hearing or seeing the subject, or his philanthropic gestures through his foundation. While many may attribute such to the politics being played as the 2019 election draws near, those who know ‘Sugar’ can tell that that is who he is – a man with a large heart.
The authors of the book have, therefore, followed his antecedents and concluded that here is a man who definitely is a humanist personified.
The book delves into the early life of the subject, his birth, and his childhood years, and as the subject grows, he begins to detest injustice, and this can be seen during his time at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, where he was a Deputy Speaker of the Students ’ Union Parliament.
Another interesting aspect of the book is Temitope’s brushes with the police, which resulted in him being incarcerated for three months, three weeks and three days, before his release in Abuja.
The book also reveals the subject’s political and philanthropic activities, which many people may not be privy to.
The authors have done a great work by bringing to the public domain the life and antecedents of one of the contestants, Temitope Olatoye ‘Sugar.’
