Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State governor
Following the decision of the National Association of Medical and Dental Practitioners, Ondo state chapter to suspend their six weeks industrial action, the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has commended the action of the medical doctors.
The commendation was contained in a statement, signed by the chief Press Secretary to the governor, Segun Ajiboye, on behalf of the governor, assuring the medical practitioners that the present administration in the state will not renege on its promises over payment of their salary.
Akeredolu expressed dissatisfaction over the suffering the medical doctors were subjected to despite the services they are rendering to the society and commended them for sheathing the sword.
He reiterated on his promise not to owe workers in the state salaries, with an assurance that his administration would be paying as at when due.
The doctors, had embarked on strike on February 6, 2017, over the non-payment of their salaries by the immediate past government, resumed to their various posts on Wednesday
The Chairman of the association in the state, Dr Ismaila Busari, on Tuesday said the strike was suspended after the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, assured them that all the backlog of salaries will be paid soon.
Busari said “the state government had perfected plans to start payment of salaries from February 2017 with an assurance that the salary will be paid before 10th March, 2017.”
