Unknown gunmen kill 7 policemen in Abuja, fear grips residents

SEVEN policemen have been killed by unknown gunmen, and one left with injuries at Galadimawa area of Abuja, a development which has conditioned residents of this area into a fearful mood.

An informed source in the area told Tribune Online in Abuja on Tuesday that the now fleeing hoodlums opened fire on the eight policemen who were on stop and search duty at Galadimawa roundabout killing seven and critically injuring one.

Following this development, there, pandemonium broke out as residents and passersby reportedly ran into different directions for safety.

Efforts to speak with the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, on the development proved abortive as he was said to attending a crucial meeting, probably on the matter.

However, a senior police officer in the command, who confirmed the incident under the condition of anonymity, stated that efforts were ‎on top gear to track down the criminals
