University of Ilesa announces tuition-free for education programmes

Published by

The University of Ilesa, Ilesa, Osun State, has made all programmes in the Faculty of Education tuition-free from 100 level until graduation.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, made this known in a statement in Osogbo, explaining that students admitted to study education programmes at the university will only have to pay certain affordable incidental charges.

Mr Tooki pointed out that “it is believed that this decision, which is in tandem with the integral action plan of the Government of Osun State under His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, in getting qualified teachers appointed to teach in the lower levels of the educational sector, will yield the desired objective and will also help the nation at large.”

He also hinted that “the authorities of the university arrived at this decision while expressing great concern over the general dwindling enrolment of candidates in all programmes in the Faculty of Education and the need to save the noble teaching profession from extinction.”

“Implementation of this policy will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic session.”

The statement listed the following education programmes offered: B.Ed. Integrated Science, B.A. Ed. English Language, B.Sc. Ed. Political Science, B.Sc. Ed. Economics, B.Ed. Social Studies, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Adult and Continuing Education, B.Sc. Ed. Agricultural Science, B.Sc. Ed. Computer Science, B.A. Ed. Music, and B.A. Ed. Business Education.

Others, according to him, include B.Sc. Ed. Educational Management, B.Sc. Ed. Educational Technology, B.Sc. Ed. Health Education, B.Sc. Ed. Chemistry Education, B.Sc. Ed. Physics Education, B.Sc. Ed. Mathematics Education, and B.Sc. Ed. Environmental Education.

“Interested candidates can register for the university’s post-UTME screening via https://admissions.unilesa.edu.ng for the 2024/2025 admission exercise,” he submitted.
