University of Ibadan maths lecturer ‘commits suicide’ on campus

A mathematics lecturer in the University of Ibadan (UI) has reportedly committed suicide on campus.

The lecturer identified as Mr. A.O. Subair, was said to have set himself on fire on Friday in his own apartment at the senior staff quarters located at Phillipson Road of the campus.

According to information, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained, as an alert only got to the university authorities of a burning flat, and as gathered efforts to save the lecturer proved abortive.

As also gathered by Tribune Online, the late mathematics lecturer recently resigned from the university but was yet to pack out of his official apartment before he took his own life

He has since been buried according to Islamic rites, according to information.

The late lecturer said to have been separated from his family, was also said to be survived by three children.
