In Oyo State, winners have emerged for the EDE Prize for Language competition which featured in-person and virtual events, demonstrating adaptability and inclusivity. The Ibadan segment was held at Valencia College, while Ogbomoso’s competition occurred online, allowing broader participation. Three schools (Valencia College, Akobo; Edupride Model School and Unique College, Ibadan) participated in the in-person contest in Ibadan.
The Ibadan winners were, in the first place, Samuel (Unique College). Second place went to another student, Charisma from Unique College also while the third place position went to Ayinde Crystal Olajumoke from Valencia College.
For the Ogbomosho winners, first place went to Tema Adesewa from George Green Baptist College; second place, Adigun Oluwatunmise Lois from George Green Baptist College and third place, Awolola Oluwademilade Ireoluwa also from George Green Baptist College.
The hybrid format allowed students from various locations to participate, ensuring that geographical barriers did not hinder the showcasing of their linguistic talents. The format of the competition underscored the commitment to inclusivity and innovation in promoting academic excellence.
“We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic participation of students in both in-person and virtual formats, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to compete,” said Adeoye Omotayo , the organiser of the event.
