AVIATION unions have given the Federal Government a seven days ultimatum to suspend the newly approved organogram of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) describing the organogram as anti-workers’ interests.
The Aviation unions, comprising National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), gave the ultimatum yesterday after paralyzingly activities at the NCAA headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
The unions after a joint Congress at the NCAA headquarters held to express their grievances over what they called ‘anti-workers organogram’ recently approved by the minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, agreed to take drastic action if after the ultimatum nothing was done to address their grievances.
Leaders of the various unions maintained that all offices of General Manager, Deputy General Managers and Assistant General Managers currently existing and manned in NCAA must be recognised in the reviewed organogram.

Speaking, the Deputy National President, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, Comrade Sarah Rindams while addressing the staff urged the Minister to immediately constitute the Governing Board for the NCAA and to stop meddling in the Affairs of the agencies, particularly in view of the serious infractions committed against Sections 5 and 6, 7 (a) and 28 (1)-(3) of the Civil Aviation Act.
According to the union, “we cannot but refer to a very interesting and disturbing case of Cabin Crew and Ground Operations Inspectors whose case moved the Ministerial Team into questioning the reason why they could not rise to GGL 17 since most of them are graduates. On this case, the consensus was that they are allowed to enjoy promotion up to GL 16 from their current bar at GL 14.”
Commenting on the 7-day Ultimatum, spokesman for the NCAA, Mr Sam Adurogboye urged the unions to harmonize all their thoughts and present to the appropriate authorities for speedy actions.
He assured that the minister would look into their grievances with a view to ensuring that all parties involved were satisfied.
